Yes, you're right.I have noticed that there are many TEFL providers that's why it's difficult to say which one offers serious and good courses.I know the best one are those organised by Cambridge ESOL or Trinity but they are expensive.
I have a BA degree in teaching here in my country and also practical.I'm teaching in a lower secondary school.Two years ago, I wanted to work for a summer camp abroad, here in Europe and they asked me for a TEFL/TESOL/CELTA diploma.
I want to do a course like those because you don't know when you need it one day.
Do you know if TKT is also famous abroad?I know that it is organised by British Council.

One thing I would say is do look carefully. There are loads of people offering TEFL's and some are expensive while some cheaper providers offer courses that are just the same in acodemic value. While some would be employers will only except a CELTA. I guess it also depends if you have a degree too! If you have a degree and you teach already, even if you are not quallified to teach, I think you should still stand a good chance of getting a job abroad with a 100 hr Online TEFL. behind you because you'll still have teaching practice. It's when you don't have the practical you run a sticky wicket! Go to an 'esl cafe' type of website and ask what TEFL's are most likely to get the best paid jobs. If you have not got a degree, then Korea and China are less picky. but niether are the wages. depends if you want to travel or earn decent wages.

They seem to be the only providers of an online TEFL course that is worth its salt. And it's one of the lowest costing. But to be honest, if you want to be sure it will be reconized, a CELTA is the best way. But I think, if you are teaching at the moment and you have a degree, then the TEFL like I did should do you fine. I'm pleased I did it!
